A 36-seat seafood spot on Centre Street pulling oysters from Apalachicola, fish from local boats, and crowds from the porch out back.
The Salty Hook started in 2018 when Mike Calloway — a former line cook from Charleston who'd been running a 28-foot Mako out of Fernandina Harbor — realized he was selling his catch to restaurants for half what they were charging on the plate.
So he leased a tiny spot on Centre Street, took two ice chests, a cast iron, and his mother-in-law's recipe for hush puppies. Six years later, the hush puppies are the same. Everything else got a little bigger.
